On a lighter note (see previous post) I had the honor of photographing this beautiful newborn (5 weeks old) and her big brother.

Well, as some of you know, I have been working frantically on the 2008 Aberdeen's Outskirts calendar and this year has been a bit more difficult. I really only get to go out hunting for beautiful scenics a couple times a week in the evenings and even though I know where I would like to go to photograph a colorful sunset or an old barn the spring flood waters have left me with relatively few travel options. Many of the images in last year's calendar were acquired by driving far enough down a nearly abandoned road which is pretty safe in a drought. Now, all of those roads and many more like them are flooded, closed, and yes, even collapsed.

Being a landscape photographer in Aberdeen, SD (the flattest land on Earth) you sometimes have to improvise. Where some would travel the globe to locate the perfect mountain reflected in the perfect lake, I will happily record the image of a giant snow heap reflected in the melting ice of a mall parking lot. But that's just me.
